Soooooo I’ve never made protein pancakes before. Not sure why. Last week I was making those oatmeal pancakes. They’re delish, but I get bored easy so I wanted to finally try out protein pancakes. I think I was resisting for so long because I think of myself of somewhat of a pancake connoisseur. I was raised on pancakes. My middle name is pancake.
Okay so I was browsing around at protein pancake recipes and I decided that I was going to make my own. You know, because I think I know everything. (Okay fine I don’t know everything in the world but I do know everything about pancakes, there, better?)
I know the point of protein pancakes are that they’re supposed to be low carb or no carb. But I needed just a little more oomph than what I was seeing in most recipes. So I added just a teensy bit of rolled oats.
Protein Pancake Recipe
- 1 egg
- 1 heaping tablespoon of pumpkin puree
- 1/2 mashed banana
- 1 scoop of whey protein powder (I use Magnum Quattro)
- 1/4 cup of rolled oats
- 1 tablespoon ground flax
Start by mixing the banana, egg, and pumpkin and then add the dry ingredients. Cook in a pan at just under medium heat. Like all pancakes you want to wait until the side is bubbling just a bit before you flip it. It took about 3 1/2 minutes per side for me. You can top with fruit or peanut butter or even maple syrup but I ate mine plain with oranges on the side.
So delicious!
Just call me Morgan Pancake Shuker.
On a scale of 1-10 how much do you love pancakes? Or do you fancy yourself more of a waffle or crepe person?

I pretty much all pancakes, whether a protein version or a classic. Although if given the choice I usually go with waffles – it’s hard to beat a good Belgian waffle!
do you make waffles at home?
Not as often as I should!
I shall call you Bagels pancake Shuker
BAAAAhahahaha … you have no idea how hard I laughed at this
I am in love with this recipe already! I love pancakes but finding a recipe without wheat is pretty hard these days! You just saved the day. I’m making these asap! YUM!
Did you make them, how’d they turn out?
I love pancakes and those look pretty darn good! Hmmm, now I think I might have to make some for lunch.
let me know if you made them, I’d also love to know what kind of protein powder you used
Haven’t had a pancake in ages! I’m the typical oatmeal kind of girl
I’ve never had protein pancakes before so I’ll give them a try
THAT LOOKS PHENOMENAL!!!!!
I ADORE ADORE ADORE protein pancakes!! I haven’t had a “real pancake” in a LONG LONG time – I honestly cannot even remember, and you know what? Who cares, because protein pancakes are the JAM!
I am so glad you jumped on this delicious bandwagon.
I freaking love pancakes. Seriously love. I think I know everything about pancakes too
I did almost cry recently when I had a major pancake fail. Doesn’t happen very often, but they fell apart and tasted terribly.
I put some applesauce in my pancakes the other day… awesome!!!
Love your recipe, thanks for sharing.
uhhhh…100 lol
Hey this recipe looks amazing going to give it a try tonight, just a few questions first
this may sound stupid but do you have to make the oats first e.g in the microwave or just put the dried oats in the mixture? and do you know what calories a serving would contain and is it okay when trying to build abs?
Thanks
