I’ve survived two whole classes of this semester and returning to work. For someone who’s been as sick as I have, that’s a pretty gosh darn GOOD accomplishment. I had to get back to work because in addition to co-hosting Go The Distance on here, I’m also running a fitness campaign for my university. Hooray for getting those workouts in this month. Ummmm except me, who is hoping and praying I’ll be back to workouts next Monday. However there’s a devil on my one shoulder telling me that I’ll be back on the treadmill by Thursday. What? I’m only having coughing fits in at night, and all through the night, and in the morning. But there’s a GOOD six hour chunk of time in the middle of the day that I’m not so bad
… okay okay I’m going to rest this week. Scout’s honour (I’m not a scout, joke’s on you!!!!)
Okay okay okay, in class today we had to go around and introduce ourselves. It’s my first 4th year class that I’m taking. Over ninety percent of the students in this class are in their last semester. I lust after that. I, however, and I announced this to the class, am NOT in my last semester.
Nope I’ve got lots of classes left. Thankfully my fitness blogger idol, Bex (from bexlife.com ) posted a little student friendly meditation video this week. This was such a good reminder for me. She talks about focus, focusing on just one thing at a time. This is good advice for everyone, not just students. I’m always jumbling too many things because I have my blog which is kind of work, my actual job where I do a lot of admin work at home, plus all of my studying. It’s so difficult to set aside time that is just dedicated to one thing or another. I’ll be writing a blog post and getting a text from a volunteer at work or studying and getting tweets about workout stuff. Let’s be honest I can be easily swayed to drop my studying most of all.
So meditation. It’s good, do it. Try this one from Bex:
Behold! I got my camera out. How good does it feel when you have a COMPLETELY awesome day of eating? So good right? Last night I made chickpeas in a homemade curry sauce, brown rice, steamed broccoli, and raw carrots. Yup, this is exactly where I need to be to make sure I’m in good form to get back to the gym next week.
I just realized that I’m actually going to talk about meditation AGAIN on Thursday. It ties into a book review I’m posting. Uhhhhh I better find time to meditate tomorrow morning if I’m giving you guys YOUR marching orders eh?!?!?
What other tips do you have for focusing on only one thing at a time?

I’m the queen of distractions! At any given time, I am doing WAY too many things and the internet/smartphone, while wonderful, only makes the problem worse. I’ve made it a resolution to start meditating more often and I’m also working on being more aware and focusing on one task at a time but it’s really, really hard.
Breathing..on every.single.breathe I take
Get better soon!
And that chickpea curry…Yum!
