Man oh man oh man oh man oh man oh man.
Oh man.
My week was all kinds of insanity last week. Workouts were skipped, burgers were had. But I still managed to play the good ol balancing act that is healthy living.
My super tight budget loved getting lunch every day at work last week. However, it wasn’t so great for my weight loss efforts. When you’re as busy and as cash strapped as I am, it’s totally hard to turn down a free lunch. We weren’t eating chicken wings and french fries or anything, it was just a bit different than I’ve been eating on my weight loss plan. I was very grateful that every meal included salad and lots of raw veggies as sides. To ensure I stayed on track I packed lots of healthy snacks like apples, pears, oranges, bananas, and kale with lemon.
And even though I skipped my workouts there was still lots of moving. We did some active training at work (my job is Active Living team lead by the way) so I was pushup-ing and dancing, etc.
AND the piece de resistance to my week was GOLFING!!!
Brad’s mom came to town to celebrate her birthday … (with beer of course!)
… and for the family golf tournament.
I’ve never been golfing before. Last year I sat out on the course and read my text book because I was in the middle of summer classes. This year I was done exams and got roped into joining. I wasn’t half bad if I say so myself. Brad’s uncle told me the reason that people keep golfing is they have one good shot, or hole, or round (etc) and they think that they could do better next time. Et voila – they get hooked. I could totally see that, especially with my competitive spirit
We ended the night with a BBQ and Brad’s aunt went to the trouble of making sure there was vegetarian friendly food for me. I never expect a host to go to extra trouble but I always appreciate it when there’s awesome food for me too.
I had quinoa salad topped with beans, a green salad with berries and candied pecans, and a bit of potato salad.
And now my friends – a couple days more of work. Brad and I are extending our long weekend since this is the only stretch of real vacation time we’re getting this summer (and probably this whole year). Before I know it I’ll be back at school.
Golfers out there? Tell me about your first time playing golf? Anyone an avid mini putt player?

I wish I played golf! I’ve wanted to actually learn for years but I think I’ll have to wait till I’m retired to pick it up more regularly.
Enjoy the rest of your vacation!
Im married to an avid golfer.
Ive been to the masters.
Ive carried the clubs.
I tell him JEWS DONT GOLF
It’s a lie— but it’s working. Id rather hang in the cart
I tried playing Golf a couple of years back….I never really touched it again aside from hitting the mini-putt course lol
Not a golf fan at all – my dad is a huge golfer and whenever he puts on the tv I have to leave the room. Cannot stand it.
