Weigh In #3 … Pull That Wagon Around

Geez louise I’ve been as busy as can be this week.  I started a new job on Monday.  It’s going to be part time during the year but we’re in full time training this week.  Plus I’ve had a bunch of freelance work to do …. AND a bunch of friend and family responsibilities.  Life happens people, life happens.

Speaking of life happening, and by life I mean partly what I mentioned above and partly exams, the whole weight loss thing kind of fell off the wagon in the last week.

But that’s a reality of losing weight right?  (I’m asking cause as I’ve mentioned I’m new to this.)

Side notes for a second:

Yesterday at work we had diversity training and it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.  QUOTE IT OUT!

Also, remember when I had a bike and spent a billion hours a week training on it?

Me neither.  Actually after my Ride for Heart ride I was so sick of being on my bike.  I’ve pretty much ignored it all summer.  I jumped on to ride over to the gym yesterday.

Let’s get to the weigh in.  I was absolutely surprised with last night’s weigh in.  Over the last week I lost my pedometer, was sleeping only 2-4 hours per night, ditched my planned workouts (but there were still some walks, etc just to get some moving in), and celebrated the end of exams with beer and wine.

However …

- 1/2 pound!!!

Starting weight = 130 / Current weight = 26.5

I credit healthy snacking.  My meals were satisfactory, but not great.  But instead of the usual crackers and chips I eat when studying I stayed strong with fruit and veggies.

What healthy snacks do you use to help you lose weight?

  1. Nice job!! For me, snacks tend to make all the difference, too. Especially when the difference is “chocolate chips” vs. carrot sticks. :P

  2. Yay!! And weight loss is definitely a marathon not a sprint..some weeks will throw a wrench in the plans but like you said, that’s life!!

My favorite snacks include protein and a fruit or veggie. I try snack on things like cottage cheese with an apple or almonds and some raw veggies.

  3. carrots and hummus = best healthy snack I know. Or cheese strings – those happen a lot too.

  4. Yay good for you! Who cares if you fell off the wagon for a week, life gets in the way of our plans sometimes but you can always go back to your workouts etc the next week :-)

Funnily enough, although I have always eaten healthily, I used to snack on pretty unhealthy things (especially during my first year at uni!) and this made me gain weight. So although I still have a morning and afternoon snack most days, usually it’s just a piece of fruit, some greek yogurt or some weetabix – just something light!
