Everything Is Peachy

Yesterday was a super duper wonderful day.  It was long, insanely long.  I was still working away late last night.  I posted a pic of a glass of wine to Instagram with this caption:

In case you weren’t sure of the protocol … When your work requires that you use two computers AND it’s past midnight, you MUST have a glass of wine.

Who can argue with that?

First peachy item of the day was my physical therapy appointment.  Although my neck and back aren’t the actual injured body parts, they do play a role in my rehab.  My doctor always does some soft tissue work on my neck and back the day after an exam.  While he was doing this we had a good and proper chat about The Dark Knight Rises.  (Brad didn’t see it until last night so I needed someone to chat with so I could pretend I’m a totally intellectual film critic.)

Then we looked at the video of my run from last week.  Here are the current problems with my form:

  • heel strike (obviously, who doesn’t have this?)
  • dropping my hips (worse on the right hip)
  • right foot is turned out when striking
  • crossing over the centre line
  • swiveling my shoulders
  • too much vertical movement

In a nutshell, I’m a mess.  Obviously we can’t fix all of that right away – baby steps!  But we got to work yesterday with some body positioning lessons.  It’s hard to believe I might be able to be a regular runner sometime soon.  But for this week I’m only allowed to do a few lengths of the park while running on the grass.

Second peachy item of the day – I won a ticket to go to the Social Mix conference in Toronto on Thursday.  These tickets are $180 so I’m so excited to get to go for free to this Social Media Marketing conference.  I won the tickets from The Coffice (love them, best tag line ever: “they call it going for coffee, we call it going to work.”)

Third peachy item of the day (pardonez moi while I CAPS you):

I GOT 98% ON MY ACCOUNTING EXAM

Tis true!  It means I only got one question wrong.  This is the highest mark I’ve ever gotten on an exam.  I now have an intense desire to shoot for 100 next time.

Fourth peachy item of the day:

Yeah dude, actual peaches.  I had to go over to Lily’s to use her computer for homework (do NOT get my started on having an assignment that can only be done with software on a PC, do not).  I always bring food to her house but by the end of the day I’m always raiding her kitchen for snacks.  I started with this peach.  Then she came home from work and cooked me dinner.

I’ve got one assignment due in an hour, another due tomorrow at 1:00 (oh and oodles of freelance work due in the next 24 hours) and then I get a bit of a breather.

Damn, wish I had another peach.  I am going back to Lily’s to use the computer again, muuuaaahahaha.

Do you have any of these form problems when running?  Millions of peaches, peaches for you?

Congrats on your result! My running form is horrible. I also have too much vertical movement, and my right ankle turns inward when I land my foot. Hm.
Good luck on your next exams!

  3. Is it weird to be jealous of your running eval? :) I’m sure most of my pain is due to problems in form, but I’ve never had the opportunity to be evaluated.

Have you ever heard of the POSE method of running? I’ve never tried it, but my father, who started running at 57 years of age!, has implemented it with great results. He’s done a couple 5ks now, the latest in the 28-minute range.

Congratulations on your excellent mark and your ticket score!

  4. I just bought a huge basket of peaches when I did groceries today…very excited to break into those :-)
