Hot Pilates

I mentioned yesterday that I was heading to hot pilates after my post.  Some FOOL had an idea that I should ride my bike there and back.  (What, don’t look at me ;) ).  I almost fell over on my bike on the way home.

Here’s a question for you if you do hot classes – do you workout in your sports bra?  I was wearing capri tights and a sports bra and had intended to wear just that.  I threw a cotton t shirt on to ride to the studio.  When I got to the studio no on else was in just their bra, they were all in tank tops.  So….. I left my cotton shirt on.  Yeah not comfortable.  It was sticking to me so bad, so was my super long hair, blech.

It was a great class, I’m so glad I went.  Unfortunately hot classes are way too pricey for me so I doubt I’ll be going again after this free week.

Yesterday’s breakfast was berry-licious.

There’s a delicious cup of peach Chobani under there.

Such a good breakfast on a cool day.  In fact as I was pulling my pictures off of my camera I was thinking “hunh I think I’ll have that again this morning!”

Today’s workout will not be hot anything.  I have to do my lower body exercises from physical therapy and I’m not about to do a billion squats and lunges in the heat.  Thank goodness for my gym membership!

So tell me, what’s the etiquette at your hot studio, what do you wear?

The first time I did Bikram was 10+ yrs ago for a newspaper article.
There was a man there in a SPEEDO.

    That was a DON’T :-)

    (My retinas are still scarred)

Dude, I walked to yoga yesterday and the class was so frickin hot I totally stripped down to my sports bra. I was totally the only one and kind of self-conscious BUT SO MUCH MORE comfortable. I would die in hot pilates. My yoga classes aren’t “hot yoga”, but as I said in this weather they pretty much are!!!! By the way I also thought you were in my class for a second, why do I think I see you everywhere?!

I usually wear my signature tank/shorts combo or long yoga pants. I don’t sweat a lot, which is weird, I know.

  4. I’ve only done one hot yoga class (free, couldn’t afford to actually pay!) and I wore a running skort and tank. That’s all I had and I was somewhat overdressed compared to the rest of the class.

Like Miz, I still have nightmares about the guy wearing “European trunks”. I’m all for wearing what’s comfortable, especially in that heat however…I wept silently every time we had to turn and face the right.

Haven’t been to a ‘hot studio’, but at my gym I once saw a middle-aged lady running on the treadmill next to me, wearing only very short shorts and a sports bra. Don’t mean to be rude, but there was lots of bouncing and jiggling going on that looked really uncomfortable.
As my body is still quite ‘squishy’, I prefer to wear capris and tank tops for my workouts, even if the heat kills me.

I go to Moksha in Bloor West… I see girls all the time in sports bras. I personally don’t wear them, but that’s just my choice. Hot classes at Iam Yoga are similar (generally a mix).

  7. I’ve never been to a ‘hot’ class, butttt I just have to say that your breakfast makes me VERY happy. Walnuts make everything better.

GY bowl looks amazing! I don’t think I wear the right attire to my Hot Yoga class. That said, I tried shorts once before but I found my legs got too sweaty and slippery to hold certain poses. I went back to knee length leggings and haven’t worn shorts since :) Who wears short shorts?! Not me lol

  9. Charissa says:

That’s totally my kind of breakfast! I will be trying this soon!

  10. oh i have never even heard of hot pilates! i feel like i must so be missing out on something!

  11. I think you can wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. I always wear a tank and shorts, but I have seen lots of people rock the sports bra in class. The hot pilates class is good right?!
