I think we’ve had rain every day in Toronto for a week, maybe more? I kind of can’t take credit for my wonderful garden because I haven’t had to do much for it. The last few days have been a blend of sun and rain. Geez, my garden loves it!
Still, my only problem is those %$#*ing squirrels. GRRRRRRR!
I’m already able to grab some herbs to use. Yesterday I picked a bunch of mint leaves and put them in my water bottle so I was sipping a hint of mint all day.
Last night we were having pasta so I grabbed some basil. MMMmmmm so fragrant
In other news I went back to the gym yesterday. It was wonderful to be back there. I spent a good amount of time working on my leg exercises that I’ve been assigned for physical therapy. After that I moved on to a bit of upper body.
It was humbling, but after being off of upper body workouts for eight weeks, I was using 5 lb weights. I used two mirrors to check on the body positioning that my doctor has been training me on. One of my worst habits is arching my lower back when my muscles get fatigued. Another habit is breathing in a way that pulls up my ribcage up.
I did higher reps with the low weights and really concentrated on proper form and it gave me a good workout. I’m feeling it a bit today. What I really wanted to do was pick up the 12 lb weights again but I’m going to ease back in to weight training. Plus I have so much more to think about now with my form.
What’s coming out of your garden so far this year?
How much do you concentrate on form when you’re weight training?

I do a lot of gravity strength training and all of the instructors are huge on form! I think it’s very important to concentrate on… Avoid injury and way more effective!
there’s just something so amazing about fresh herbs. i’m patiently waiting for my beans and peas to grow in my garden!
the squirrel thing made me laugh today – reminded me of how furious Hampy used to get with the squirrels raiding the bird feeders. Made him absolutely crazy to the point where they got that silly bb gun to scare them off…lol.
I always ensure I have proper form when I train! It’s not worth going heavier if you’re sacrificing form
Love Basil, especially in pasta! Yummm!
Yayay for garden goods and awesome weather! The squirrels are a gardeners sworn enemy. Note from one gardener to another, netting.
I’m getting tons of herbs, already had a whole strawberry crop, and am currently eating fresh green beans! Tomatoes on the way soonish.
I suggested it but Brad’s against it or some reason. Do you have a pic of how you put the netting on your garden?
