Lemon, Interrupted

If you’re a long time reader of my blog you know that I LOVE hot water and lemon in the morning.  I think starting your day with water instead of coffee is a great way to prioritize hydration.  But there are other benefits as well.

Livestrong.com lists these benefits of drinking lemon water:

  • digestive aide
  • overcoming nausea or morning sickness
  • weight loss
  • creating beautiful skin
  • energizing your body

Here’s where the interrupted part comes in.  I’ve been going for two weeks without my beloved lemon water.  Both grocery stores by my house had a super yucky batch of lemons recently.  It totally threw off my morning routine and I definitely felt a difference in my hydration levels.  Yes I know I could have just drank a glass of regular water.  But I didn’t.  I just went straight to the coffee pot.

I’m happy to report that lemons are BACK in my life.

I brought something else back this morning that’s been missing from my morning routine for months and months.  Remember when I used to wake up every morning and meditate and stretch for 10 minutes?  Me neither, it’s been gone for so long.  I have no idea why I stopped this.

I used to forgo the snooze button and let Brad stay in bed for an extra ten while I grabbed my yoga matt and a mug of hot lemon water.  My day was totally different when I had this tiny slice of time for focusing in the morning.

Wish me luck, I hope to keep the meditation up for good now.
