Peanut Butter Cup Oatmeal

My laptop is back.  It’s okay.  SSShhhhhh, sssssshhhhhhh.

I shall treat you to a picture of some bad-ass breakfast.  Brad ate all of the bread in the house so toast was out of the question.  Well look what I remembered was in the cupboard that I bought weeks ago but was hiding behind boxes and boxes of quinoa.

Three cheers for steel cut oats.  Hip hip hooray, hip hip hooray, hip hip hooray!!!!!!!

Ladies and gentlemen may I present you:

PEANUT BUTTER CUP OATMEAL

It’s glorious – peanut butter and a handful of chocolate chips.

I also have to throw in my picture of last night’s dinner.  Recipe care of Janetha from Meals and Moves – Sweet Potato Shephard’s Pie.

I subtracted the ground turkey and added lentils.  Oh and I had to call it casserole.  You can’t call things pie in this house.  If you call anything a pie Brad will go into a 20 minute lecture about how dishes are not pies unless they have a crust and next time could I put this into a crust?

Okay and I’m going to go totally off topic and share this crazy cool YouTube video.  It was shot at a bookstore in Toronto.

When you make oatmeal do you make steel cut oats or rolled oats?  Fav toppings?

I love steel-cut oats!! I just made some the other day and added chocolate peanut butter and a bit of agave. My favorite topping though is coconut and a banana :)

    That video was awesome!

  5. I would very much like for you to video tape one of these conversations between you and Brad. Preferably if it is about pie, and then post it. Or just email it to me – that would be ok too. I feel like it would be very entertaining for me.

  6. I have never had steel cut oats. I need to try them.

And that casserole looks good and I just had an aaaha moment where I could totally switch out meat in recipes and use lentils. Hmmmm would that work most times? I don’t cook so I have no clue but I’m always struggling with meals for hubby to make for me as a vegetarian (well, I eat fish and eggs). I need to start cooking which IS one of my goals starting in Feb.

And heck yea, peanut butter and chocolate on oatmeal delish!

    • Morgan @ Life After Bagels says:

OOHHHHH Angie – you should send me a few meat dishes that you like to make and I’ll do a MAKEOVER for them into vegetarian … send me an email morgan.shuker AT gmail.com

    Bwaahaha, a pie lecture. :p

Love having chocolate + peanut butter on my oats. Or sometimes I mix cocoa powder right into the banana + oat + milk mixture while it’s cooking.
