Wow who knew you guys would like to read book reviews so much! I should have started doing them sooner. As part of the Blogher network I get to participate in book review programs from time to time. But fear not – I promise to only opt in to programs that I feel that you guys would be interested in. I’m already signed up for my next review and the book is Lunch Wars by Amy Kalafa (check it out on Amazon.)
Aside from book reviews, it may start to get a little boring around here, or shall we say bland. I finally got in to see my doctor yesterday about my tummy problems and I am on an all bland diet for at least a week. No spicy, no caffeine, no salt, no sugar, no raw fruit or veggies – nothing that would make my tummy work too hard. So in the 2.5 seconds I had to get from my doctor appointment to class I made a big bowl of potatoes.
Last night for dinner I got a little more creative and had oatmeal with a peeled and cooked pear. I put it on a dinner plate to appropriately set the night time mood.
I ate this, while Brad had (because it was on our meal plan) quesadillas. I sulked let’s be honest.
This certainly puts a damper in my Vegetarian Food Fair plans for this weekend.
Have you ever had to go on a bland diet? Or when you’re sick in the belly what do you usually eat?

Ok. What CAN you eat? I’m pretty sure I would tell my doctor to shove it. But to be fair, I have very little faith in my doctor. And no caffeine, that’s the scariest. Doesn’t this guy realize you’re a student?
Ooh that does not sound like fun! Bland diet. blah. When I have tummy troubles, I drink peppermint tea or ginger root boiled in hot water. For food, I usually stick with a clear broth soup and plain crackers.
Oh no, that sounds horrible! Especially for someone who likes good food.
Whenever I’m sick in the belly I eat pretzel sticks or plain rice soup. Those are sometimes the only things that stay down. And I drink a lot of herbal tea, also for that warm, comforting feeling.
I hope you’ll feel better soon!
