Do You Ever Forget?

Do you ever forget that you like cooking?  (Or maybe you don’t like it.)  But often, in the hustle and the bustle I’ve forgotten that I really like being in the kitchen.  Cooking is a weird thing for me because it’s partly a chore (it’s one of my dedicated household duties), it’s partly my job (cooking and photographing are such a large part of the blog), and it’s partly a hobby.  Roll all those considerations together and it’s sometimes hard to remember that cooking is AWESOME.  Since Sundays are usually spent doing meal prep for the week, I rarely make a big meal then.  But since the last few Monday’s I have been working from home, I’ve gotten into making a nice meal for us on the first night of the week.

Last night was more lentils, mostly because they are cheap and we are at the end of the month and the money in our FOOD jar is very low.

I made lentil loaf from Eat, Live, Run.

This is seriously one of my favourite recipes :)  I must have still been feeling the mustard love from yesterday because I mixed syrup, ketchup, and mustard for the glaze.

It came out so perfectly.  After popping it out of the pan I kept stroking it and saying “wow this is the best it’s ever come out.”  Brad told me to stop molesting the loaf.

Look at it!  I took the corner piece, much better for ultimate crispy and soft texture combination.

I was all ready to have a serious workout week this week.  But unfortunately I’ve been having tummy troubles since last week and they really flared up yesterday morning so I took the day off.  Hopefully I’ll be able to get to the gym or at least a bike ride before heading to work today.

I love turkey loaf. Made with ground turkey, almond flour, an egg, red onion, fresh basil, salt, pepper and dried thyme. Yum!

  2. say whaaaaaaaaaaat!?

This is a beautiful beautiful thing I’m seeing here, a loaf worthy of molesting.

  3. I don’t ever forget loving to cook because I know I don’t love it. LOL I have forgotten my love of weight training recently though. It’s just not motivating me lately for some reason.

  4. You know, I’ve only ever put lentils in soup. I dont know why, they’re delicious. I think I should make this loaf. Its the right thing to do.

my favourite is your lentil loaf – deeeeeeeelicious!!!!!

  6. I’m the same way about cooking. It sounds like such a chore but once I start…LOVE IT! :D

  7. I forget that I love cooking all the time. What I really love is cooking random things that sound delicious as a hobby. Unfortunately, most of my cooking is relegated to rushed, basic meals I make for dinner mostly because its time for dinner, not because I feel like cooking. This is very bad for a food blogger, but I’m working on it.

  8. Whoa that DOES look crazy good!

I always love cooking but every once in a while I’ll have a startlingly genius moment and realize that cooking is really my passion.

  9. Lentil loaf? Yum! Looks delicious.
