I really and honestly do believe that a women can do anything a man can. And I certainly believe that I can do anything a man can do, but it’s not because I’m a woman, it’s because I’m me. I know that gender bias still exists in so many ways in our culture, but I’m not one to let it get me down. It’s up to each and every woman individually to gain success the way that she decides in her life. Luckily, a woman far more successful than I (so far) has taken the words right out of my mouth. So today, on International Women’s Day I hope that you will watch, listen, and get inspired by these powerful words.
I found that video after a tweet from a fabulous woman, Jill Felska of Pop Social Media. Thanks Jill! If you want to read an amazingly inspiring blog check out Pursuing Our Passion. Jill writes this blog with her business partner (and friend) Jenn.
Last but not least, some super awesome ladies who braved the cold weather for a dinner date last night.
We started at Fresh, I had a veggie burger.
Then we moved on to Menzies. It’s a frozen yogurt place which is apparently all the rage in some cities, and it’s the first in Toronto. There were a tonne of celebrity photos on the wall which cracked me up!
I was too full from stuffing my face full of perfectly seasoned french fries at Fresh. Here’s what Susan and Callie mixed for themselves.
If you were speaking in front of a group of young women, what is the BEST piece of advice you could give them about their future?

My advice: don’t be afraid to take chances, even if you might fail, because there’s still a chance to learn and grow; not to mention, you’ll never know if you don’t try!
My advice: Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t. You are stronger and more capable then you know. You will exceed all of their expectations!!
My advice: Learn to be your own best friend. It’s something my mom taught me as a teenager and turned into the best advice I ever got. Doesn’t matter where I am or who I’m with, I don’t just love myself, but I LIKE myself. And that’s enough to get me through the hardest of times.
I’m gonna miss yoooouuuu!!!!
My advice would be to discover. It’s amazing how many opportunities/careers I didn’t even know existed because I was always told about “female” careers and not much else. I kick myself now for not taking the time to uncover the posibilities out there for myself.
My advice would be to never rely on a man to provide anything for you, learn to be your own person first and then you bring more to the table!
