A Story Of The Streetcar

If you haven’t been here over the weekend, feel free to catch up:

If You Must Buy Lunch:  An Idea

Toronto Vegetarian Food Fair

As for yesterday, I was still stretching my supplies to try to pack a lunch.  We were supposed to go grocery shopping on Saturday evening, but we were too sleepy and mushy.  All I could come up with was a major old school lunch of a pb and j sandwich on ezekiel bread with a side of banana.  Plus I ran down to Tim Horton’s and got an apple cinnamon tea.

It wasn’t quite enough food for me, and I came home starving yet again.  I immediately threw these pizza slices in the oven and boiled some broccoli.  Then ate them immediately, look the steam is still coming off the broccoli.

Now that the business part of the post is done, let me share a story with you straight from the mouth of Mr Bradley.

Brad:  ”I was sitting on the streetcar and a guy got on with his bike and walked to the back of the streetcar, then walked up to my seat and sat right beside me, facing me.”

Guy:  ”How’s it going, you having a good night?”

Brad:  ”Yeah not bad”

Guy:  ”How old are you?”

Brad:  ”29″

Guy:  ”You’re really good looking you don’t look your age”

Brad:  ”Thanks man”

Guy:  ”yeah you look really good, where’s your girlfriend?”

Brad:  ”she’s at home, how old are you, where’s your girlfriend?”

Guy:  ”I’m 24, I’m into guys.  Yeah you’re really good looking.  Do you have 10 cents?”

Brad:  ”No man sorry”

Guy gets up to leave and tries to give Brad a pound (like the dude fist pound handshake), but hits his chest instead and he says “wow you’re in really good shape, you look good for your age, have a good night”

What “old school” lunches did you used to eat when you were a kid?

  1. This is hilarious! hahaha I miss living in Toronto sometimes…

  2. Oh, the conversations you have on public transit. ;)

I’m a huge fan of PB&J still, and think I had to have had it… every day? From kindergarten through fifth grade, so that’s saying something!

  3. Bahahah! I loved that. Some people are quite… interesting… in the city ;)

I actually used to HATE pb&j. I love it now! I used to eat gross sandwiches like bologna and cheese [what kind of meat IS bologna any way? i don't want to know...]. I think I have a much better taste now :P

  4. Love how the broccoli is overtaking the plate… looks like my kind of meal!

I really need to find a new “vegetable kick” to go on… haha

Baaaaahahaha. The strangest experiences I’ve had so far in Toronto have ALL happened on public transit. No matter where I’m going or what time of day it is, I’m always stuck next to the rowdy group of guys drinking PBR on the streetcar. Then they try to include me in the conversation, I try to make a wise crack, and just end up getting off before my stop. Ugh.

When I was elementary school I had PB and honey on whole wheat and apple juice every. single. day. I still love that combo to this day!

  6. Sara says:

    LOL @ Brad’s encounter!

  7. hahaha that is the best conversation ever! If I were Brad I would be telling that story to every single person who would listen! :)

Your pictures look different. Did you get a new camera?

  8. Rachel says:

Conversations on public transit and vegetarian food fairs make me want to visit Toronto!!!

  9. Natalie says:

Hahaha..gotta love randomness on the TTC.

  10. Heidi says:

Oooo. Tim Hortons! Bless your heart. I know you don’t “know” me, but trust that I’m a fanatical Tim Hortons drinker, an ex-Buffalonian living in Florida who absolutely loves (and misses) Timm Ho’s.

I found you via Rosey Rebecca.

  11. Heidi says:

And by Timm Ho’s, I mean Timmy Ho’s.
