Guess what I started the day with yesterday? MMMMmmmmmm the freshest bagel that has ever crossed my lips.
Since there’s probably new readers since Blogher and HLS I feel like I should disclose as I sometimes need to do. YES I do still eat bagels, I just don’t eat them everyday with butter AND cream cheese like I used to. I only buy bagels here and there.
Here is my afternoon snack, made just the way that Brad likes.
This poopey looking monster contains:
- orange juice
- spinach
- hemp protein powder
- mixed frozen berries
- 2 bananas
Now onto my big bad Labour Day weekend bbq that I had planned. Okay okay, it wasn’t big and it wasn’t bad. The email I sent out sounded something like this:
I am having a super informal potluck bbq. I am not cooking. Bring food and beer if you want to come over at 4pm.
Yes and I really do wonder why no one came. Does it not sound like a riot? Luckily for us Ryan, Raquel, and Ben came over, so it wasn’t a complete bust. Here’s what we bbq’d.

Ryan and Raquel brought the chicken skewers.
Ben brought the two sausages and diced them up into the most disgusting meat sandwich that I have ever laid my eyes on.
Brad cooked four hamburgers “just in case.” Just in case of what I have no idea. We now have three of them wrapped up in our fridge “just in case.”
This is what I ate.
This potato was heaven. In fact I named this photo potato heaven when I saved it from my camera. And you bet I went back for the second half.
Now we’re off to a Labour Day brunch. Don’t worry, I didn’t plan it so I’m pretty sure many more people will be showing up.
What did you bbq over the weekend? Or what is your favourite thing to bbq?

We don’t BBQ unless you count on our George Foreman. We don’t actually own a grill right now while we live in an apartment. But I love the grill flavor.
No BBQ for me this weekend! But if I did BBQ this weekend my favourite thing to cook up would be sausages!
We had a similarly small BBQ! We made hot links for the meat eaters, and I made spicy mac & cheese which I probably ate about 1/3 of by the end of the night! lol. I had a cheese hangover the next day
No BBQ this weekend at school : ( But I do LOOOVE bagels, I wish I could eat them all the time. Like you, I used to but sadly now they’re only on special occasions
I love bbg chicken and those skewers look delicious.
I totally would have come to your informal non cooking BYOB&F BBQ had we not already had plans to visit Kevins cousin. lol.
Yummy potato deliciousness! The other day we grilled and I did apple and onion (I know you hate them!) kabobs with a balsamic/honey glaze. AMAZING.
BBQ sweet potatoes are the best, in my humble opinion. nothing can beat it.
Bagels once in a while is necessary! Sometimes, you just need that dense, carby goodness. I miss the great ones in Brooklyn.
I sadly didn’t BBQ this weekend, but I do love BBQ corn! It’s also always amazeballs to throw a few veggie dogs on the grill!
I don’t eat a lot of meat, BUT I am easily enticed by bratwurst. Kinda sick, I know!
Ha – love your email invite. I would totally have come to your potluck BBQ.
I love to grill mushrooms, bell pepper and squash. Also love a good potato cooked on the grill. Yum.
had a bbq dinner party on saturday and made the all time best grilled asparagus salad….I meant to take a picture for you Mo..presentation is everything. I will definitely share this recipe with you…mmmmmmgood!
Mmm I love bbq! Grilled veggies are my favorite thing ever!
