I Sent It Back

One of the most fabulous parts of being “back to normal” is getting to have awesome lunches on my days off.  And by awesome I mean starting with jalapeno cheese bread.

It was really hard not to just jam the whole loaf down my throat.  Instead I just sniffed the bread periodically during the sandwich assembly operation.  Eventually I made THIS:

On the sandwich is hummus, tomato, and a cucumber.  Plus my side of pear.  Plus the most delicious lemon water in the entire world (because at these temperatures, water of any state would be the most delicious in the world.)

And because I’m just so on the ball, I prepared enough for two sandwiches so my lunch is already packed for today.

After lunch I headed over to the gym to make my legs hurt a lot.  A little hard to walk today, but that’s what I get for neglecting the gym so much in August.

Then finally, the much anticipated bra shopping that I have needed for months and months.

I only came away with one bra, because after a proper fitting I was told that most companies don’t make bras small enough for me.  No really, no joke.  Apparently I have the rib cage size of a cat or something.

The day is not over yet my friends.  Because we had a double date at Utopia, mmmmmm.  Okay mmmmm until they served me this vile creature.

I can barely even look at this picture due to the disgusting onions.  Oh man I hate onions.  I had to send it back (yes I had requested no onions when I ordered.)  They very kindly prepared me a new burrito and comped my beer.  No harm done, but it was scary for a few moments I tell ya.

As if we were not stuffed already from burritos, Erin and Brad (ice cream addiction twins for life) forced us over to and old ice cream parlor that had just been redone.  Apparently we needed to check out the new interior.

And since you didn’t ask here’s the exterior.

Ah bloggers, always looking for a good photo op aren’t we?

Question:  do you ever send food back?

Hi! thanks for the birthday wishes!! :)

the pressed tin on the ceiling of the restaurant is to DIE FOR! and those sandwich shaped Tupperware are too cute. :)

  2. Dorry says:

LOL about the bra – I also have an abnormally small ribcage so 32 is a tad too big. Total bummer, right?

I’ve definitely been known to send food back – I don’t like doing it but I waited tables and I know I’d rather my customer be satisfied. Because of this, I probably drive the server crazy asking questions while I place my order to be sure we’re on the same page. :)

  3. I’m pretty mellow about messed up orders (regular fries instead of sweet potato? No, really, it’s fine- I’m ok). But in that case, where you can’t even pick it out effectively, yeah, send it back. You’re paying for enjoyment of food. It has to be done.

I was a bra fitting specialist at a department store part time during college. Sounds fancy, right? ha ha. But anyways, yeah, it was always crappy to say “I’m sorry, we just really can’t help you. You’re gonna have to special order- it’s a pain in the ass, but you’ll find a much better fit that way.”

  4. Lily says:

I still haven’t been to Utopia! you need to take me lol. and yum to the ice cream place. love it!

  5. I hate sending food back and will generally only do it if the food is undercooked…the only time I’d have to do it was if mayo snuck its way into my meal. Otherwise I try to pick around it – or heck, even try it because my taste buds may decide to like it – although there really is nothing wrong with sending food back to get what you ordered and enjoy the meal you’re paying for.

That sandwich sounds AMAZING! I have never heard jalapeno cheese bread but now I must bake some! Yum!

I have never sent food back but I also pretty much eat anything.

  7. Nichole says:

A rib cage the size of a cat, haaa. Omgoodness. I’ve never heard of that store but sounds amazing.

I would kill to eat ice cream out of a power wheel, that’s hilarious.

  8. Do I ever send food back *psssh* of course. if it doesn’t taste right or even if someone else orders something I still speak on their behalf cuz they know I will. I had to do this once for The Hubs. He ordered a mushroom pasta (that was pictured on the menu). He had 3 itty bitty baby mushrooms on his pasta dish. I sent it back askign for more mushrooms lol.

Up until I saw you sittin in that car all I could think was this ice cream place looks like a bad acid trip and that I would stay pretty far away from it LOL.

  9. hahaha I LOVE that picture of you! Too funny. :)

I also find it hilarious that they dont make bras small enough for you. It makes you unique right?
If it helps, I used to have massive boobs. Seriously, they were obscene. Now, not so much. Plus, because they went from so huge to so small, theres some awesome saggage going on.

  10. I have (a few times) sent food back if it wasn’t what I ordered or something is wrong with it. I feel a little bad doing it, but I find that if I’m polite about it and stay calm, they don’t give me a hard time. If I’m paying to eat out, I would like it to be what I ordered and decent!

  11. I will definitely send something back if need be. If I pay my hard earned money it should be what I ask for right?

  12. You don’t like onions!?!?!? They are one of my favorite foods. Oh my goodness. I’m sure we can get past this and continue our friendship though. We’ll be strong.

  13. a says:

I send back food if it’s a wrong order, not what I expected or is just plain gross.

Example , aspargus tortellini dish that ended up being frozen chopped asparagus over plain tortellini. All i could smell was frozen asparagus . ew.

  14. BostonRunner says:

I always feel really bad when I send food back, but at the same time I don’t hesitate to do so if it’s necessary. Sometimes it’s just simply not what I asked for, undercooked, etc. and there is no point in being unhappy with your meal you’re paying for

  15. Japaleno cheese bread?
    Sliced pear?
    Holy YUM!
    I think I’m in love :D

  16. Amanda says:

I am still cracking up about ‘ Apparently I have the rib cage size of a cat or something’. Classic!
The bread looks like I could eat a loaf in one sitting!

  17. I just came across your blog and I love it! That jalapeno cheese bread looks great!

  18. With my food sensitivities I am constantly sending food back. But I’m polite about it so they don’t spit in my food.
