Good morning everyone. If you didn’t read over the weekend and are still wondering where I disappeared to last week, check out my Saturday post for explanation.
Yesterday Brad and I had a rental car until late afternoon and I was trying to figure out something worthwhile to do before we returned it. I decided we needed a hike. My body was craving exercise but still wasn’t up for anything too intense. I surprised Brad by driving to Brickworks on the East side of Toronto.

We started by wandering into their craft fair.
Actually it wasn’t just crafts. There was lots of carved wood pieces and home made food. I resisted the food and Brad resisted the wood so we could start out on our hiking journey.
The scenery was absolutely beautiful.
Too beautiful in fact. Because we had to stop every 30 seconds so Brad could take pictures. Somehow most of the “good shots” involved him scaling down a ravine and almost falling into the stream.
We walked for over two glorious hours. I had to stop for many hydration breaks. I’m still feeling extremely dehydrated from last week.
I can’t believe how many beautiful trails Toronto has. They’re like little hidden nature wonderlands amid the dirty sticky streets.
After the hike I took the car back while Brad picked up some supplies for an early dinner. I had a veggie burger with avocado and salsa and a simple green salad with bell peppers and carrots. This was the most extravagant meal I’ve had in days and it was exactly what I wanted.
I’m back to work today after the Vegas zombie free for all that was last week. It’s the first day of my fiscal month of September.
Have you discovered any “nature wonderlands” in your city?

Well, I’m in the same city
But yes! I keep finding these awesome little places in Toronto, and I love it! For such a big city, I love how many parks & nature getaways there are

I didn’t know this place existed! It’s lovely! I’m surprised by how many pockets of nature Toronto has. My favourite discovery so far as been the Leslieville spit. It’s just a small piece of land that juts out into the lake, but you get beautiful views of both the skyline and water. Plus, it’s the freshest smelling air I’ve so far found in the city
Looks simply amazing, great pics. In north GA there is an area that is known for mountains, rivers and waterfalls, we’re heading there this weekend for Labor Day.
I love anything outdoors!
Fellow Toronto fitnessy-girl here! I just started reading through your blog and you’re either my neighbour or really into hanging out in my neighbourhood. It was actually sort of weird and cool to see the area I live in on someone else’s blog
I loooove love nature. Went for a giant long hike with my hubby and a big group of friends yesterday (from the Distillery district, down to some lovely green walking path **) and it was wonderful. So wonderful that I didn’t even notice the mild heat-stroke until I got home. Ooops.
(** When walking in groups I tend to just zone out into conversation so I don’t actually know what that area might be called)
Oh I love a good hike! We don’t have many good trails around here but whenever we find a trail wherever we are we take advantage of it!
What a lovely afternoon – I wish there was a place to hike in Dallas. There are a few trails but they are overpopulated and not nearly as pretty as you’d hope for!
“They’re like little hidden nature wonderlands amid the dirty sticky streets.”
Best line ever!
I had no idea this place existed!! Thank you for letting me know. I now have something new to check out in the city!!
what a great trail discovery! i am only familiar with rattlesnake point trails, really, and the leslie spit…waterloo girl here and we are sadly lacking in trails around here!!
hope you’re feeling better after the las vegas “issues!”
