You must be waiting on the edge of your seat for me to post again. You must be wondering where the hell I’ve been all week. You must be assuming that I had some partying extravaganza while in Vegas and therefore was unable to post.
That could not be further from the truth. But you have to know it was something extreme for me not to be able to post for four whole days.
After the glorious day at the pool that I shared with you at the beginning of the week, the conference took a turn for the worst. Well for my team at least. What seemed to be a 24 hour flu ran rapid through our team one by one. More time was spent in bed than in meetings or sessions.
All day Tuesday, hour by hour, people kept going down. Three of my team members even went to the hospital. It was 48 hours of the weirdest zombie movie ever. I just kept waiting to be next while I alternated between going to my meetings and caring for my roommate.
My poor roommate was probably one of the most sick. Everyone kept telling me it was a miracle I didn’t go down too. My roommate told me “it’s probably all the weird vegetables you eat” hahaha.
We’d like to thank our sickness sponsors:
- bottled water
- Gatorade
- chicken broth
- saltines
- Pedialyte (which I had never heard of before this week)
FYI – if you’re in Vegas this weekend, we have cleared the whole city out of saltines and Pedialyte.
Somehow by Thursday night, about 95% of our team was able to leave their rooms to join the rest of the conference at the closing night bowling competition.
I happened to stink at bowling. My score was 50 something.
So I fought off the sickness until Friday morning. Where I woke up a little ill. Luckily for me it was the most mild and didn’t last too long. I was just very grateful to be able to get on the plane to come home.
I was also very grateful for this bowl of plain pasta last night.
We are all very grateful to have left the flu in Vegas.
“What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” has a whole new meaning after this week.
Have you ever been sick while on a business trip or on vacation?

A bunch of my coworkers got a lighter, not as bad 24 hour cold this week! Strange when things like that go around, but I do at least feel better when I’m not the only one
I apparently pick up every virus that even looks at me funny, so I definitely also had it. As to your question – I was sick when we went to New Orleans in March, and it was a nasty cold in my chest which always causes me to get in these horrible coughing fits (I have some sensitive lungs here) and so on the entire plane ride I was downing water like crazy, but then of course having to pee every half hour, and trust me, the coughing in an enclosed space was making me no friends! To top it off, when I get sick like that I cough so hard that I literally will vomit, and of course that had to happen while we were out in the French Quarter. So I can say I’ve vomited on the streets of NOLA French Quarter, but unfortunately that’s not due to being drunk & having a great time =P Being sick while traveling is the worst!! [Also sorry that my story was rather GROSS. haha]
darn! Sick in Vegas! Not cool.
I get sick at the most inopportune times…..like on Christmas morning, my birthday or on vacation.
Being sick is no fun! I’m actually getting a little sick now so I’m guzzling down ginger tea. (Aren’t you glad that germs can’t be spread via web? Well, not real germs anyways
) Haha and I suck at bowling as well, I’ve never scored over 100
.
Ugh, I’m so sorry you (and your co-workers) got sick in Vegas. (love Vegas, got married there!)
Yep, I got horribly sick on two different occasions. Food poisoning in London, the night before I was flying to South Africa (ugh) and I picked up some virus in Afghanistan and, nine hour drive to Pakistan later, I was sicker than a dog in my hotel room for three days. But I did manage to get out of the hotel for an important work event (and some shopping). NOT FUN. Hope you’re feeling back to your old self!
oh my goodness have I been sick on vacation…so has my hubby. when we were celebrating our third anniversary he got the nori virus on our cruise and I sat at formal night in my pretty dress all alone. the food was good and really its all good. but when we got off the ship it was my turn. my fever was so bad. we spent our anniversary night in our hotel room with Rollin grabbing ice from the ice machine to cool down my fever. I wish this was the only time we’ve been sick on vacation…just the worst of it.
speaking of vegas, while I was there I fell in the rain on our first evening there and gave myself whiplash, threw out my shoulder and sprained my ankle….but it didn’t stop the fun and the walking..but I was happy to come home and see my chiropractor.;)
Oh my gosh that DOES sound like some weirdo zombie movie! And “Yay” for weird veggies
You better take it easy after the crazy busy month that you’ve had! (yes, im pulling a mom on you)
Great shot of toronto!

Just seeing this now, you poor thing! Being sick on vacation is the worst. I had food poisoning for 24 hours in the Dominican Republic and it was awful! Being sick away from home just stinks. Glad you’re feeling better!
